This vs It Many English learners make mistakes while using This and It. They seem to be very simple but many times you may interchange them unknowingly and make mistakes. Check out the differences between This and It.

This

  • Used for something near you (physically or in context).
  • Used when you introduce something for the first time.
  • More specific and immediate.

Examples

It

●Used for something already mentioned or known.

●Used when distance doesn’t matter.

Tip

Use this when you are pointing to or introducing something.

Use it when the thing is already known or previously mentioned.
