Difference between it’s and itsÂ
I have observed many people get confused understanding the difference between it’s and its. They do mistakes while using it’s and its at correct places as a result the whole meaning changes.
It’s
It’s is a contraction form for It is or it has.
For example: (It’s used as It is)
1. It’s very nice place to visit.
If you expand it’s, you will write the same sentence like-
It is very nice place to visit.
2.It’s beautiful dress.
It is beautiful dress.
Another example: (It’s used as it has)
1. It’s been long time since I saw you.
It has been long time since I saw you.
2. It’s been raining since morning.
It has been raining since morning.
Its:
Its is a possessive form for pronoun ‘it’. Its shows possession for pronoun ‘it’. Its means something belongs to the pronoun ‘it’.
For example:
1.The dog lost its eye. (dog’s eye)
2. It’s my dress. I love its colour.
(Colour of dress)
3. Silk is famous for its softness.
