Adverbs

An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
It usually tells us how, when, where, how often, or to what extent something happens.

Main Types of Adverbs

1. Adverbs of Manner

Tell how an action is done.

Examples:

  • He speaks politely.
  • She completed the work quickly.

Common words: slowly, carefully, well, badly, loudly


2. Adverbs of Place

Tell where an action happens.

Examples:

  • The children are playing outside.
  • Please come here.

3. Adverbs of Time

8. Relative Adverbs
